Intramedullary diffuse tubercular lesion resembling glioma.

چکیده
Sir, Of the various forms of spinal tuberculosis, intramedullary spinal tuberculomas (IMT) are least common (2/100,000 of all tuberculosis).1 We recently encountered a case, which was diagnosed as glioma after imaging was done, leading to neurosurgical intervention, which later turned out to be a tubercular lesion. This case report underscores the importance of keeping a high degree of suspicion for tuberculosis in an endemic area as ours.

Targeting hyaluronan interactions in spinal cord astrocytomas and diffuse pontine gliomas.
Although significant advances have been made in treating malignant pediatric central nervous system tumors such as medulloblastoma, no effective therapy exists for diffuse pontine glioma or intramedullary spinal astrocytoma. Biology of these 2 tumors is poorly understood, in part because diffuse pontine gliomas are not treated surgically, and tumor specimens from intramedullary spinal astrocyto...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Most intramedullary astrocytomas have been known to exhibit at least some enhancement on MR imaging regardless of cell type or tumor grade. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of nonenhancing intramedullary astrocytomas through a retrospective study within our institutions and a systematic review of the medical literature. MATERIALS AND METHODS A tot...

In addition to histopathological parameters, evaluation of associated hematological factors is essential for devising a sensitive prognostic scale in glioma. Increased neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), a marker of systemic inflammatory response, has recently been associated with worse outcome in various cancers. Given that glioma progression is characterized by inflammation, aggressive angioge...

Tubercular gingival lesions(Figure.1) may present as exuberant and granulating or as mucosal erosions. Sometimes these lesions may be seen simultaneously with marginal periodontitis[15]. Chronic desquamative gingivitis is associated with chronic infections affecting the gingiva, the most common being tuberculosis. Case reports of gingival tuberculosis appearing as diffuse gingival enlargement [...
